I hit 100.1 miles at the top of Albert mt. the last 400 feet to the summit were almost vertical!!! I felt more human than human after it.
The Crew picked me up after a 15.9 mile day and brought me back to Auntie Roberta's house of Nirvana! This woman was amazing! She had roasted chicken, wild rice, collard greens and homemade bread!!! Ah-maze-ing!!!! Wonderful woman. A trail Angel!
John, that meal looks DEE-licious, even without hiking 15.9 miles! You earned that one. Bon appetit! -- Carroll in France
ReplyDeleteHey Man, I just logged on for the first time. I'm so jealous. This looks like a real experience. Keep on trekking! You're missed in Holland. You keep using nicknames for everyone. What's your handle?
ReplyDeleteThat was Shelly, By the way.
ReplyDeleteJohn, I'm reading a book called "Medicine Men:Extreme Appalachian Doctoring" and I just finished a section where the author describes thickets of laurel and huge rhododendrons as dog hobble or witch hobble-says they are Hell to get through. Some of your pics look like witch hobble-like Hansel and Gretel should be leaving crumbs. God thing you're only going one direction. Love, Mom
ReplyDeletePS: Thank Auntie Roberta for me:)
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy reading your posts! And these pictures are great! Some of these make me laugh while others make me a bit jealous. I'm glad for you to meet good people out there. Hopefully those new boots work out for you. Keep on, keepin' on! -Ro
