Rough day! 16.5 miles of rain! Cold narly rain! The Nantahala Outdoor Center is sweet though. There are hostels there and an outfitter. They do whitewater rafting and kayaking trips. They were hosting the US freestyle team trials so there were people everywhere!!! No rooms there so we hitched a ride to Bryson city and stayed there. Pop Tart and Sally were picked up by some trail angels that let us stay in their cabin for a zero day!!!! And they had a hot tub!!!!! Falling Turtle and Irish Charm were great! They meet on the trail and did back to back thru hikes!!! They were married at Trail days in Damascus. Trail Days is a week long party for hikers. I'm probably going to hitch a ride up there and hitch back to where I left off!

Blood Mt. Summit
Highest point in Georgia. 4461 ft. Going down the other side was killer! But I made it to Neels gap were I'm staying at the hostel.
Day 9 zero day
Iced my knees and drank left over Budweiser. Went shopping for food. And bought some new boots. They should be awesome! They can't be worse than what I started with. Blisters bad. Oh! And I had to replace a shirt I gave drifter Bill and wool socks I gave Sarah the runaway. Another hiker told me they made it off the trail alive. Hope everyone in the real world is doing well!!! Let me know you are!!! I'm going to the bonfire out front! Later
Day 8 Cheese factory to Dicks Gap
Took the shuttle into Hiawassee to meet up with friends and get a bed. Great day! Everyone is excited to see one another! Cold beer in warm sunshine on soft green grass can do wonders for moral!!! They are getting back on the trail tomorrow. I however will take a zero day and let my bones rest.
