Daleville to Harpers Ferry

Lifetime Box turtle count: 4
After hiking more than 800 miles, I feel for the first time getting up after taking this photo.
I cursed so loud, I know I heard a baby crying in the valley

A fog rolled in.  It was so awesome to walk though!

Box turtle picture war wounds.  T'was a mere flesh wound.

Very old diamond blaze above a white blaze.  First one I've seen.  I bet I passed a bunch of them though.

Killer swimming hole!  Perfect for the blazing weather that day.

Swimming hole from the trail.

Deer are everywhere and are not afraid of humans.

I wanted to stay here but I couldn't stop that early in the day.  I think I only did 12 miles at that point.  Huge shelter though.  They normally only fit 6-8.  This one could fit more than 20.

Gorgeous section.  Its was neon.

Some weather tower thing.

Oh no!  The Guillotine!!!

Just joking.  I wasn't scared.

Standing by the longest foot traffic only bridge on the AT.

Laundry day in Buena Vista.

There were about 1400 cyclist in this campground in town.
Made it really easy to blend in and camp for free!

So many bikers!

Hiker food from the biker feed.

Allstate from Detroit enjoying some libations after a long day.

Mustache trim on the trail.

Devils Backbone Brewery
Good beer.

And over here...HOLY SHIT NO MOUNTAINS!
It was kinda weird.

Trail magic!!!  Beer and oatmeal cream pies!

Back of Miss Janet's van.

Slack packing with a little help from the infamous Miss Janet.

Hikers migrating through town.
There isn't much to Harpers Ferry.  Maybe some history or something.

I thought of making one of these.  But I didn't want to carry it.  He used his sleeping pad.  Brilliant.

All the hostels were full of boy scouts.  So we camped next to the town cemetery.  The trail is actually just passed the tree line there.

Thats my home!

BBQ on the road.

Canons on the road.  I love the south!
